Employer Training Grants
Westmoreland County Community College is a partner with the Workforce & Economic Development Network for Pennsylvania (WEDnetPA). WEDnetPA assists those employers who qualify with training for their employees through the Guaranteed Free Training (GFT) Program. This program is funded through the Department of Community and Economic Development. Companies that qualify can receive up to $450 for Basic Skills Training for eligible employees and up to $850 per employee for Information Technology Training.

Basic Skills Training includes instruction in a variety of entry level and basic skills such as:
  • Applied Mathematics & Measurement
  • Business Operations
  • Computer Training - Word, PowerPoint, Excel & Access
  • Product & Process Control
  • Manufacturing Fundamentals - tooling, grinding, soldering, blueprint reading, etc.
  • Workplace Health & Safety

Information Technology Training is comprised of specific high-level computer skills and Advanced Manufacturing skills dependent on the type and scope of the business. Some types of training include:

  • Database Development
  • E-Commerce
  • Website Design & Development
  • Computer Programming & Software Development
  • Network Administration & Technology Support
  • Applied Manufacturing Technologies such as CAD/CAM, PLCs and other higher end skills
