Acalotto Named to All-American Softball Team |
Freshman catcher, Bree Acalatto (Norwin) was named to the 2009 NJCAA Division III Softball All-American Second Team. Acalotto hit .376 on the season as she belted 3 homeruns and led the team with 30 RBI's. Behind the plate, she caught every inning of every game and only committed 2 errors on the entire season while posting 126 put outs. Bree was a cornerstone player in helping WCCC secure it's third consecutive trip to the NJCAA Division III Softball World Series. WCCC finished eighth at the 2009 World Series and 22-10 on the season.

World Series Let Down |
The women's softball team dropped their opening game at the NJCAA Division III Softball World Series to eventual National Champion Tompkins Cortland 6-2. Nerves and errors did WCCC in game one as they bobbled away a late lead and couldn't recover. The Wolfpack then were dropped by Suffolk 8-0 along with a 4-1 defeat by Central Lakes. WCCC finished the season at 22-10 and a 8th place finish at the 2009 World Series. Congratulations!

Regional Champions! |
The women's softball team captured the 2009 NJCAA Region XX/District H Championships by defeating Garrett College 16-2; 11-0 and improved to 22-7 on the season. With their Region/District title they will be headed to their third consecutive trip to the NJCAA D III World Series in Rochester, Minnesota. Infielder, Amanda Weightman was selected as the District H MVP of the tournament and named to the Region XX All-Tournament team. Other Wolfpack members who were named to the All-tournament team are: Ashley Duke, Keri Bowser, Bree Alcalotto, Laura McCauley Nicole Dorko and Emily Sprankle.

Demary named to All-American Team |
Sophomore guard, Tessa Demary was named to the NJCAA Division III Honorable Mention All-American Women's Basketball Team. Demary led the team to a 20-7 record and a 7th place finish in the NJCAA National Polls while averaging 14.7 ppg and shooting a whopping 53% from the 3 point line. She also averaging 3.26 steals per game. Tessa leaves WCCC as the college's all time leading scorer with 656 points.

Softball Slips in Finals |
Three games on Sunday was a little too much as the women's softball team was pounded by Potomac St. 10-0 in the WPCC Championship Game. WCCC started out the tournament on Saturday by rolling Garrett College 16-2. Keri Bowser (Red Bank Valley) went the distance to pick up the victory. The Wolfpack then dueled with Potomac St. as a late inning error cost WCCC a 2-0 defeat. However, WCCC rebounded to beat CCBC 6-4 on Sunday and then got even with Potomac by beating them 6-3 and forcing an extra game. WCCC (20-7) was out matched in the third game, as WCCC was handed the WPCC runner-up trophy. Laura McCauley (Greensburg Salem) batted .470 for the tournament with 7 singles, 6 RBI's, 4 runs scored and a home run.

Acalotto Doubles Up Erie |
Catcher, Bre Acalotto (Norwin) belted 4 doubles and drove in 6 RBI's during a sweep over Erie CC (8-0, 13-4). Acalotto continues to swing a hot bat as her average has risen to (.373, 21 rbi's) on the season. Emily Sprankle (Leechburg) spun a shutout while striking out 7 and giving up 3 hits in game one. In game two, Ashley Duke (Greensburg Salem) went the distance to secure the victory. Laura McCauley (Greensburg Salem) smashed a triple in game two as WCCC improved to (17-5) on the season.

Softball Ranked 10th |
Behind a nine game win streak and steady improvement, WCCC (15-5) is ranked 10th in the latest NJCAA Division III Softball Poll. WCCC will play host the 2009 WPCC and NJCAA Division III Softball tournaments which will take place April 18-19 and April 25-26.

Softball Stings Potomac |
The women's softball team used clutch hitting and strong pitching to sweep Potomac St (8-7, 5-3). Laura McCauley (Greensburg Salem) had 2 hits as Emily Sprankle (Leechburg) homered and finished with 2 RBI's. She also picked up the circle win. Ashley Duke (Greensburg Salem) pitched an outstanding game to pick up the win in game 2, as Amanda Weightman (Greensburg Salem) and Sprankle each had 2 hits. WCCC is currently (9-5, 6-0) on the season.

The cold rain didn't cool off the hot swinging bat of Seneca Sleasman (Yough) as she belted out two singles and a double to lead WCCC to 6-5 victory over Jamestown in game two of their double header. Laura McCauley (Greensburg Salem) and Emily Sprankle (Leechburg) cracked out doubles. Ashley Duke (Greensburg Salem) held on for the victory. Poor defense of play didn't help the Wolfpack (7-5, 4-0) in game one, as they were blanked 6-0.

Corning Sweeps Pack! |
Corning used their speed along with their bats to pound out a sweep over WCCC (9-1, 15-8, 13-1, 8-3) in a key weekend matchup of top NJCAA Division III programs. Pre-season All-American pitcher Megan Meyers, stifled Westmoreland hitters as she walked away with two circle wins. WCCC (6-4, 4-0) never got on track in the field or at the plate. Keri Bowser (RedBank Valley) cracked a homerun for the Wolfpack.

Nichole Derk (Ligonier Valley) and Seneca Sleasman (Yough) connected for home runs as WCCC (6-0, 4-0) defeated South 11-0 in game one. Derk also homered in the night cap as Emily Sprankle (Leechburg) laced a triple. Nicole Dorko (Greensburg Salem) powered in three hits. Pitchers, Ashley Duke (Greensburg Salem) and Keri Bowser (Redbank Valley) picked up the circle victories.

Sophomore pitcher, Ashley Duke (Greensburg Salem) picked up the other circle win.

Softball Ranked 4th Pre-Season |
The NJCAA has released its pre-season Division III Softball poll and WCCC will start the season ranked 4th. The Wolfpack finished last season at 19-12 and a 3rd place finish at the NJCAA Softball World Series. WCCC will be led by two pre-season All-American's in sophomore outfielder/infielder, Amanda Weightman (Greensburg) and freshman pitcher/infielder, Emily Sprankle (Leechburg). Other top returning players in Region XX to watch this season are pitcher/outfielder, Nichole Derk (Ligonier Valley) and outfielder, Samantha Proffitt (Yough). WCCC kicks off it season on March 11, at home against Garrett College.
