Doug Walker swings into his 5th season as the Volunteer Hitting Instructor. Walker began coaching back in 1980 in the Fay-West League. In 1982 he coached the Scottdale Legion and moved on to re-start the Mt. Pleasant American Legion baseball program in 1984. He coached the Mt. Pleasant Legion from 1984 through 2004 compiling a 269.119 record. Walker won 12 division titles and qualified for four regional appearances. In 1993, his Legion team became only the second team in Westmoreland County to win the Regional and compete for the American Legion State Championships. In 1999, Walker was inducted into the American Legion Sports Hall of Fame. Doug is currently the Commissioner of American Legion Baseball in Westmoreland County.
