College Closing

During bad weather, the decision to close the college is generally made by about 5 a.m. College closing information will be available via CruiserAlert on your cell phone (sign-up by logging onto CampusConnections), as well as on radio, TV news broadcasts, the college website - wccc.edu, CampusConnections and the other Internet sites listed below.

An announcement of college closing means that all classes (day and evening; credit and noncredit) are cancelled at the Youngwood campus and all education centers.

Education Center Closing
As the weather may be more severe in different areas, the education centers (Bushy Run, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Laurel, Mon Valley, New Kensington and the Public Safety Training Center) may be closed independently of the Youngwood campus. Check the radio, TV or Internet for information pertaining to your particular site. Or, you can receive a CruiserAlert message if you subscribe to the channel for your particular education center. See the CruiserAlert information in the next column for instructions on how to subscribe.

Classes held at a high school will automatically be cancelled if the school district cancels for the day.

Class Cancellation
If it becomes necessary to cancel classes, a decision is generally made at about 5 a.m. for day classes and about 4 p.m. for evening classes. Check for CruiserAlert messages as well as the radio, local TV news broadcasts and the
Internet sites listed in the next column for an announcement of class cancellation.

Delayed College Opening
If the college delays opening, classes will not run on a delayed schedule, but will begin with the announced start time. For example, an announcement of a 10 a.m. start (for MWF classes, or 11 a.m. for TTh classes) means that the Youngwood campus and all education centers will open and begin the day with regularly scheduled classes that meet at that time.

Campus Children's Center
The Campus Children's Center follows the WCCC academic schedule and will close when the college is closed due to inclement weather.

Parking During Bad Weather
A snow removal company begins removing snow as soon as it starts to fall. However, during heavy snowfall the college parking lots may still be covered and slippery. You should exercise caution when both driving and walking on the college lots. Also, please be careful not to park in a manner that would block traffic or
another car.
